Why Wisdom Is Your Best Friend

“Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her,

And happy are all who retain her.”

Proverbs 3:13-18 NKJV

Have you ever heard a still small voice or just had a tug or pull in your spirit?

Many times we say “Something told me to __________.” Now whether you actually went with it or not was up to you. That tug was likely the Holy Spirit coupled with his wisdom.

The Bible says that happy is a man that gains wisdom and that wisdom is better than rubies and no desire can come close to her. Even the length of days and riches lie with wisdom! Many times we are praying for things that simply are a result of listening and acting on pure wisdom.

So how do we obtain this great gift?

1. Simply Ask

Humble yourself and ask God for wisdom. It's okay to tell God that your way of doing things probably wasn't the best way.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

James 1:5 NKJV

2. Ask in Faith

Ask and believe God will provide the answer. Focus your attention on him versus outside influences. Even if the wisdom or solution to a particular situation comes from an external source, focusing on Christ will help navigate through different voices.

“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.”

James 1:6 NKJV

3. Know that the Lord’s Solution is Better than Man’s

““For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 55:8-9 NKJV

As we end a year of twists and turns, I encourage us all to seek the wisdom of the Lord that is readily available. It is there to guide us through every aspect of life.

As we are called to walk by faith and not by sight, it is imperative that we check what we see with our eyes against the wisdom of the Lord.

Seeking and going forward by his will sets us up for the ultimate, happy and blessed life.

Many Blessings,

Chrystal
